Pinterest posting schedule : How often should I be pinning on Pinterest to start seeing results?

Are you struggling to work out how often you should be pinning on Pinterest? I’ll admit, there’s a lot of confusing advice out there.
Some of the articles I have seen, suggest posting 5 times a day, some say even up to 30 times a day is the right amount. In my experience, it is a balanced combination of keyword research, visually aesthetic pins, relevant titles and a consistent posting schedule that works really well. But I also believe, just like anything, there is an element of trial and error involved. You need to be consistently checking your stats and numbers and working out what works and what doesn’t. And be prepared to adapt!
So, in this blog, let’s talk about your Pinterest schedule and how often you should be posting to start seeing results…
Pinterest favours quality over quantity
In my experience, Pinterest favours quality over quantity. What does that mean? It means that your pins need to be providing some kind of value to be the best they can be.
Here are three things you need to focus on in order to create a good quality pin :
Design a pin that is relevant to your audience. Use eye-catching photos or pictures that will inspire your audience.
Use keywords that your ideal client might search for and provide this information on your pin or in the Pin title. Something that will make your client want to click on it or save/pin for later.
Focus on pins that will help you get click throughs to a destination link and use evergreen content to do this (content that works for you as time goes on).
This could be pins that link to your blog posts, your website about page, a lead magnet (freebie), your social media channels or your e-commerce site.
It’s really important that your pins are answering questions that your ideal client is asking. These kind of pins will improve your visibility and improve your traffic over a longer period of time.
Scheduling pins vs. manually pinning
Pinterest allows you to post pins or schedule them depending on your preference. In my experience, scheduling pins is the most time saving and cost effective method if you plan to nuture your Pinterest account but there are benefits to both :
Which Pinterest Strategy Works Best?
Scheduling your pins works well when you have a good template and a strategy to follow. Once you have sorted your format, it will save you time in the long run and you will be able to create high quality multiple pins in batches. Scheduling them in advance means you will be consistent and maintain a steady online Pinterest presence.
Alternatively, posting pins spontaneously allows you to catch certain trends. This works quite well when you are a product based business, focusing on seasonal hashtags or trending items. Ultimately, it is up to you which technique works best and you will need to weigh up the right tactic that works for you. When I support clients with this, I will often schedule their Pinterest content in advance, as it gives them a steady presence that builds up over time.
Experimenting with pins and changing the formula to see what works
When it comes to Pinterest, I think it’s best that you keep an open mind about what works and what you might need to change. You need to test, learn and optimise your strategy as you go and experiment with different pin formats that work for your ideal audience.
Sometimes, by making small changes like tweaking titles, colours or descriptions, you can improve overall engagement but it is important that you are noting this in your background stats and adapting to what is working. Tracking your overall pin performance and analysing the results creates a strategy that delivers growth over time. It might seem boring but it’s so important to notice what is working and what isn’t.

What is a realistic pinning frequency for a small business?
However often you post on Pinterest, it needs to be something that is realistic for you and your business. This is why I suggest focusing on quality over quantity in the long run.
I recommend building a consistent schedule that you keep up. If this means you only pin twice a week but the pins are strong and full of great content that your audience is going to love, then keep it going. The important thing is that you don’t stop.
Pinterest is deeply evergreen, which means content does not lose it’s potency after 24 hours (like social media does!) This means that pins that were posted years ago, can suddenly gain traction and work for you. Pinterest pins compound over time, so the more consistently you are posting, the more effective your overall strategy will be.
So how often should you really be pinning?
Ultimately, there is no right or wrong answer to this. My only recommendation is that your Pinterest content remains fresh, useful, valuable and frequent. I have supported clients with one high quality pin per day and this has been very effective but I have also supported clients with less or more than this and they have been equally effective. It is more about knowing your audience and what they would like to see and adapting to suit that.
The most important thing is that your pins are consistent and high quality. A consistent pinning routine will deliver better long term results than trying to throw 50 pins on there in one week and none the next.
